Year of the Woman Farmer

At A&A Organic Farms, we are grateful for the women across our team who help advance sustainable, resilient, organic agri-food systems—from growers, packhouse teams, to quality and food safety experts, and the administrative staff who keep everything on track: we see you, we appreciate you, and we’re honored to work alongside you!

This March, in observance of Women’s History Month and the UN 2026 International Year of the Woman Farmer, we are called to reflect more deeply on the intersection of gender and agriculture, and to pair recognition with honesty about the disparities that still shape opportunity.

According to the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), closing gender gaps in agri-food systems could yield nearly $1 trillion in global economic gains and lift 45 million people out of food insecurity. Yet progress depends on confronting uncomfortable truths:  women in wage employment in agri-food systems earn $0.78 for every $1 men earn.

It is only through ongoing reflection, dialogue, and intentional action that we can build a more just and resilient agri-food system, and that future depends not only on building efficiency but also on fairness.

In an industry historically dominated by men, A&A Organic Farms is proud to have a woman as Vice President, helping lead the company. We are also fortunate to have a strong female presence throughout our office, with upper management primarily composed of women. Beyond our internal team, we are proud to work alongside many women-run farms and growers who work tirelessly to provide high-quality organic produce and help strengthen our supply chain.
